The Shadow Education Secretary visited a school hoping for Government cash to pay for expansion.

Labour shadow cabinet member Tristram Hunt met with Grange Primary School headteacher Annette Szymaniak yesterday to discuss the need for a £6 million refit to modernise the school buildings and create more spaces.

Mr Hunt visited the school with Labour’s Harrow West candidate Gareth Thomas and Councillor Simon Brown, where they visited classes that were being held during the school holidays.

The politicians were shown problems with the buildings such as windows that do not shut and brickwork in need of repair.

Gareth Thomas said: "I was delighted to welcome Tristram Hunt to Harrow. One of my priorities if I am re-elected will be to make the case to the new Secretary of State for Education for funding for Harrow schools, including Grange Primary and Norbury School, which also needs additional funding."
