Tributes have been paid to a 21-year-old who was knifed in the neck in front of dozens of people in a packed wine bar.

Officers were called to the RE bar in Field End Road, Eastcote at around 1amon Sunday, October 11, where they found a man suffering from serious stab wounds to the neck.

Crews from the London Ambulance Service attempted to treat him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, police have named the victim as 21-year-old Josh Hanson from Kingsbury.

Next of kin have been informed and a post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Hundreds took to Twitter and other social media sites to pay their respects to the 21-year-old, including one colleague who tweeted: “Come into work to find out a colleague got stabbed in Eastcote last night. RIP Josh.”

Twitter user @leilawils tweeted: “Still in complete shock about the stabbing in Eastcote. Just goes to show that anything could happen at anytime... Anywhere.”

Bradley Shirvill said: “Rest up to that Boy that died at Eastcote on the weekend. Got mutual Friends and they said he was a nice kid. Condolences to the family.”

@SaeedMaj added: “His family and close ones don’t deserve this. RT and help find these scumbags who murdered Josh Hanson in Eatcote.”

Christ Stark, who works on BBC Radio 1’s Scott Mills Show, also added: “Really sad to hear about the stabbing in Eastcote last night. What has happened to that place.

“Thoughts with their family and friends.”

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating, but so far there have been no arrests made.

Officers say they are confident the suspect is not a risk to the wider public.

Police are now appealing for witnesses who were at the bar that evening, believed to be around 40 people.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am appealing to anyone who was in the RE bar between midnight and the time of the incident, just after 1am, to contact us.

"It is believed there would have been around 40 people present at the time of the incident, many of whom left the venue as paramedics worked to save Josh's life. It is imperative these people contact us to let us know what they saw.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who was in Field End Road area around 1am Sunday morning who may have seen or heard anything that they now think might be because of the incident at the RE bar.

"I would also appeal to anyone who had been at the RE bar throughout Saturday night, even if they left before Joshua was attacked, to contact us.”

Any witnesses or anyone with any information for detectives are urged to contact the incident room on 020 8785 8099 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org.
