Thousands of people in Harrow and beyond are set to come together on a mission to rid the country of litter in time for The Queen's 90th birthday.

Harrow Council is backing a borough-wide clean-up, with organised events in Rayners Lane and Queensbury.

Both 'Clean For The Queen' events start at 9.30am on March 4.

Council officers will provide volunteers with high vis, gloves, litter pickers, bags, brooms, shovels and brushes – everything needed to help Harrow shine – plus a well-earned cuppa afterwards.

Cllr Graham Henson, cabinet member for Environment, said: "Queensbury will be fit for a Queen by the time we’re finished – and Rayners Lane too.

"Our community clean-ups are always good, clean fun and 'Clean For The Queen' will be the biggest one yet.

"We have enough brooms for everyone so I can’t wait to see you on March 4."

To get involved in this mass community clean up, or organise one, people should register their details on the council’s website www.harrow.gov.uk/cleanforthequeen or call 020 8736 6279.
