Harrow publicans have signed up to a national award scheme to help reduce alcohol-related issues in the community.

Staff from 14 pubs from across the borough raised a glass in The Harrow on Wednesday as they joined the “Best Bar None” scheme, supported by Harrow Council and the Harrow Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID).

The scheme accredits pubs and bars on quality and responsibility, with all members having to take part in a forum for good practice, and meet stringent standards, as part of their membership.

Best Bar None aims to reduce alcohol-related crime, reduce the harmless effects of binge drinking, improve the knowledge of licensees and bar staff, and build positive relationships between licensed trade, police and local authorities.
