Harrow Borough edged to a 9-8 victory on penalties at Hanwell Town after a 1-1 draw in the London Senior Cup second round on Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Jamie Jackson proved the match winner after he saved the 18th penalty after the previous 17 spot kicks had all been scored.

The opening goal of the match came after 69 minutes as the hosts struck the first blow. Dayo Olufemi got the finishing touch on his header to score.

But Dave Anderson’s side produced an immediate response as debutant George McCluskey headed home the visitors’ equaliser.

Hanwell almost won the game but Kyle Watson’s shot was deflected onto the bar.

The match went straight to penalties after 90 minutes and Boro prevailed to book a trip to Beckenham Town in the quarter-finals.

But the Reds’ relegation fears in the Ryman Premier Division increased after a 2-1 home defeat to Billericay Town last weekend.

The visitors played for 82 minutes with ten men after Gerald Akosa was sent off for a lunging challenge.

Billericay grabbed the opening goal when Ricky Sappleton fired home a rebound effort after his free-kick was blocked.

The hosts equalised five minutes before the break when Michael Bryan headed on for Greg Ngoyi to fire the ball into the net.

But the Essex side regained the lead in the second half after Anthony Maissiat conceded a penalty which was converted by Richard Halle.

Boro will look to upset the odds at leaders Margate this weekend.
