Harrow Borough manager Steve Baker insists his side paid the price for not being clinical after Northwood dumped them out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night.

The Reds were held to a goalless draw in the first qualifying round of the competition on Saturday but were beaten 1-0 at home in Tuesday’s replay after a 91st-minute winner from Myles Stephenson.

Baker said: “We missed some really good chances and you just felt that they might nick it late on. Ultimately we paid the price for not being clinical.

“I wasn’t overly disappointed with the performance but for all the possession we had we just didn’t test the goalkeeper enough.”

Baker admitted the chance of boosting the club’s financial position was the biggest disappointment from their early exit.

He said: “My biggest disappointment is walking in and seeing all the people working here because, had we got through, it could have brought much-needed money into the club. You feel like you have let them down even though we gave it a go. We just didn’t do quite enough to win.”

The Reds visit Needham Market in the Ryman Premier Division this weekend.

Baker said: “We can’t feel sorry for ourselves and need to bounce back.”
