This was a case of after the Lord Mayor's show for Wealdstone, who three days after a high-profile FA Cup tie came from 2-0 down only to lose 3-2 to rivals Harrow Borough in injury time in the Middlesex Senior Cup.

Saturday's FA Cup first round tie against League One side Colchester United was the big match for Gordon Bartlett's side this week but against Senior Cup holders Harrow, the Stones were poor and deservedly trailed 2-0 at half time.

Goals from Spencer McCall and Marc Charles-Smith had Steve Baker's men in front and good value for their lead at the interval.

However, the introduction of substitute Scott Davies turned the game and he was pivotal in as Wealdstone pulled one back through Jonny Wright in the 66th minute and then, a minute from time, equalised via Matt Ball.

With extra-time looming both sides went at it hammer and tongs but it was Isthmian Premier Division Harrow who snuck into the quarter-finals with a last-gasp winner from Fejiri Okenabirhie.

It was Wealdstone, who started with five members of the side beaten 6-2 by the U's on Saturday, who had the first presentable chance.

Veteran Scott McGleish knocked a long ball forward into the path of strike partner Josh Hutchinson with his chest but he could only drag wide.

Harrow responded with skipper Charles-Smith seeing an effort cleared away after young Stones keeper Scott Dutton had patted the ball into his path.

Dutton atoned for that slip by spreading himself well to block the Reds' number nine a few minutes later as the hosts turned the screw.

Wealdstone were still offering a threat, though, and when Josh Urquhart's cross from the right fell to McGleish at the back post he clipped an inviting cross into the middle for Hutchinson to nod wide.

Charles-Smith thought he'd scored after 33 minutes when he sprinted through, slotting under Dutton only to see his effort skip up off the turf and against the far post.

Four minutes later Boro did take the lead, McCall breaking the Stones' backline before placing low beyond Dutton from inside the penalty area.

Harrow Times:

And in the 41st minute the holders doubled their advantage; Charles-Smith finding the ball at his feet in the penalty area before steadying himself, side-stepping Dutton and stabbing into the empty net.

Wealdstone almost halved the deficit before the break but Bradley Hudson-Odoi, one of the survivors from Saturday, saw his free-kick clawed out of the top corner by Harrow keeper Conor Hudnott.

Hudson-Odoi had been a rare bright spot up to that stage and again went close six minutes into the second half when he drifted in from the left and brought a good stop out of Hudnott down to his left.

It really should have been curtains for the Stones soon after when a cross fell to lively winger Joshua Webb at the back post. But with the goal gaping, he fired over the bar and let the visitors off the hook.

Wealdstone's fight-back started in the 66th minute when a cross from the right fell to Wright on the far side of the penalty area and the experienced forward swivelled before lashing low into the far corner with aplomb.

Harrow continually pushed to extend their lead, going closest when former Watford man Michael Bryan dipped a speculative half volley just wide of the near post from 25 yards.

And, at the death, Bartlett's side dragged themselves level.

Harrow Times:

The dangerous Davies crossed from the left and his pin-point delivery was turned home by Ball at the far post with a despairing Harrow defender unable to clear off the line.

But the drama was far from over.

Both sides continued to battle for a winner in the remaining three minutes and it was holders Harrow who held their nerve.

A hopeful ball forward found Okenabirhie and he showed great composure to hold off his marker and steer underneath Dutton from inside the 18-yard box to seal a dramatic passage into the last eight.
