Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri has described Roberto Pereyra as an eclectic player and believes he can be the missing link for his team.

The versatile attacker joined from Juventus at the end of last week and could make his debut at home to Arsenal on Saturday.

Mazzarri said: "Pereyra is an eclectic player so he can play in different positions.

"He can play on the wing, as an external striker and a more offensive player. He can play different roles in different formations, whether it is 3-5-2 or 4-3-3.

“He has good dribbling qualities and in my opinion we needed him and he is the missing link in our squad. He has different characteristics to other players."

The Hornets have been busy over the last week with Pereyra joined at the club by defenders Younes Kaboul and Daryl Janmaat.

Mazzarri expects them to be involved against the Gunners but does not think all three will start.

The Italian said: “I need to evaluate [new signings]. They’ve just arrived and I need to be sure they know what they need to do in the team. They will be there but I’m not sure yet if they will start or if they will go in later.

“I want to start with the good things we did against Chelsea. It’s nearly impossible that all of the three will start. I need to take into consideration the level of people that played against Chelsea."

Isaac Success is yet to make his competitive debut after suffering from a leg muscle injury but the forward returned to training today and could feature this weekend.

Mazzarri said: "He’s an important player. He trained today and tomorrow we will decide if he’s ready to play against Arsenal."
